Gwen Sebastian to perform at Alive@5
North Dakota’s first contestant from “The Voice” will perform in Dickinson, and it will be free to the public.
Gwen Sebastian will be the featured act during the Alive@5 downtown street event on Thursday, Aug. 7, event director Eric Smallwood said Thursday.
“I just got to thinking that I would like to do one big blowout for Alive@5,” he said. “I’ve got to thinking, ‘Who can I get? Who can I get?’
“Then it just hit me: Gwen Sebastian. She is big and she is from (around) here.”
Sebastian, who was raised in Hebron, appeared on the NBC singing talent show’s second season in 2012. She chose to join Blake Shelton’s team but was eliminated during the battle round.
Before appearing on “The Voice,” the country singer released three albums. Her duet with Shelton, “My Eyes,” was No. 1 on the U.S. Country Airplay chart, which is produced by Billboard magazine.
The Outlaw Sippin’ Band with Jesse Veeder will open the show at 5:30 p.m. Sebastian takes the stage at 7:30 p.m.
Alive@5 typically runs from 5-8:30 p.m. on Thursdays throughout the summer on First Avenue West north of Villard Street.
Smallwood said he expects the event to run longer when Sebastian performs.
