Highway 22 north of Killdeer closed due to weather
The North Dakota Highway Patrol has closed a portion of North Dakota State Highway 22 north of Killdeer because semitrucks have been having trouble navigating the hills in the Killdeer Mountains due to the snow, Sgt. Dan Haugen said.
"We clear one out and then another one just gets stuck," Haugen said.
Haugen expects the shutdown to last as long as it keeps snowing.
The trouble spot is around mile marker 126 at the large hill north of the bridge, Haugen said. Travel on either side of the Killdeer Mountains is still allowed.
"The problem isn't really vehicles sliding in the ditch, it's just them getting stuck on the highway," Haugen said. "Then they block the highway."
