Highway 49 project begins today
Construction on Highway 49 for approximately 31 miles from Elgin to Glen Ullin is under construction beginning today, according to the North Dakota Department of Transportation. Work consists of a thin lift asphalt overlay.
There will be a lane closed, flagging and a pilot car during the day.
The speed limit will be determined by the pilot car in sections where paving is going on, and will remain 65 mph throughout the rest of the project, according to the DOT.
At night, there will be no pilot car, and the speed limit will be 55 mph in sections of uneven pavement, and remain 65 mph throughout the rest of the project.
The job will take about a month, weather permitting.
