Hopkins promoted to sergeant major

Daniel M. Hopkins has been promoted to the rank of sergeant major in the U.S. Army.

Hopkins is a group leader and tenor vocalist assigned to the U.S. Army Field Band at Fort George G. Meade, Md. Hopkins has served in the military for 28 years.

He is the son of Richard Hopkins and Beverly Hopkins of Mclean, N.Y.

His wife, Jacqueline, is the daughter of Jim and Maddy Clarys of Dickinson.

Hopkins graduated from Dryden High School, N.Y., and received a bachelor's degree in music from State University of New York at Potsdam.
