Hospitals receive grants
Ten rural North Dakota communities, including Bowman's Southwest Healthcare Services, will benefit from grants provided to small hospitals. The grants are provided through the North Dakota Medicare Rural Hospital Flexibility (Flex) Program administered through the Center for Rural Health (CRH) at the University of North Dakota School of Medicine and Health Sciences.
The North Dakota Flex Program distributed approximately $214,000 in funds through 13 grants for small hospitals across the state. The funds are to be used for studying and evaluating facilities, establishing new programs, purchasing new equipment and providing training to staff and volunteers.
The North Dakota Flex Program is funded through a grant from the federal Office of Rural Health Policy (Health Resources and Services Administration). The program works with and assists rural hospitals to stabilize and sustain their local health care infrastructure.
