Hummer driver killed after striking semi truck
One person is dead following a two-vehicle crash early Saturday morning along Highway 85.
Brock Burnham, 33, of Dardanelle, Ark., was driving a 2007 Peterbilt semi truck that was pulling a single trailer south on Highway 85, 35 miles south of Watford City, when he missed a turn onto Highway 200.
He stopped and backed up onto an approach along Highway 85, intending to go north to Highway 200 when his trailer, which was partially blocking the road, was struck by a 2005 Hummer H2 traveling north at about 1:30 a.m. CDT.
A fire that started when the Hummer struck the trailer consumed the Hummer and damaged the trailer.
The adult driver of the Hummer, whose name has not yet been released, was pronounced dead at the scene and transported to Grand Forks for identification.
The crash is under investigation by the NDHP and McKenzie County Sheriff's Department. Charges against Burnham are pending.
