Hutzenbiler finishes runner-up at Rotary
BISMARCK — The chances of Dickinson High junior No. 2-ranked Austin Hutzenbiler seeing top-ranked Bismarck Century’s Nathan Humann at 113 pounds are pretty good.
Humann grabbed a 5-3 decision over Hutzenbiler in the championship match during the Bismarck Rotary Tournament on Saturday.
“Austin lost to him at the Mandan Lions Tournament earlier in the year,” Dickinson co-head coach Pete Dobitz said. “It’s a hurdle he’s going to have to get over. We are going to have to work harder.”
The Midgets finished in 14th place with 64 points. Bismarck High won the tournament with 190 points, while Pierre (S.D.) was runner-up with 159.5 and Aberdeen (S.D.) rounded out the top five with 154.
Dickinson also had Jaret Lee (120) and Devin Berger (126) place fifth. Chris Sickler (heavyweight) was sixth and Clayton Tangen (152) took eighth.
Dobitz hopes the finish at the tournament will helped get the Midgets back on the right track. Dickinson continues its season hosting Jamestown for a West Region dual at 6:30 p.m. Thursday.
“This is a good springboard for what we need to do,” Dobitz said. “It should give us some confidence going into the dual on Thursday.”
The Midgets also had a couple wrestlers place at the Night Hawks Classic in Hettinger. Sterling Quintanella was third at 195 pounds, while Dual Keck placed fourth at 220. Todd Irwin (106) Tom Irwin (132) and Austin Lindborg (182) all placed sixth.
