Interpreter killed, U.S. soldiers wounded in Iraq
BAGHDAD (AP) -- The U.S. military says an interpreter was killed and American soldiers were wounded in an attack on a police station in northern Iraq.
Military spokesman Lt. Col. Dave Doherty did not say how many U.S. soldiers were wounded in Tuesday's attack. The statement says a second interpreter was also wounded.
Doherty's statement says the attack occurred in Ninevah province, which includes the city of Mosul. He gave no more details, saying the investigation is ongoing to determine the cause and nature of the attack.
It's the third attack against American forces in two weeks in northern Iraq. Mosul is considered one of the last strongholds of Sunni insurgents.
