It's official: Grant Olson suffers ACL knee injury, will miss the rest of the season for NDSU's football team
FARGO - It's official. Grant Olson has suffered a torn anterior cruciate ligament in his left knee which will end his season and career for North Dakota State's football team.
"I don't see that changing," Bison head coach Craig Bohl said during his weekly Monday press conference.
Olson, a senior middle linebacker who has been NDSU's leading tackler for the last two seasons, injured his knee on the third play of the second half during a 28-10 home win over Illinois State Saturday.
Carlton Littlejohn, who filled in for Olson Saturday, will do it again when the Bison travel to Youngstown State this Saturday. Littlejohn had a career-high 16 trackles last Saturday.
Bohl said All-American Marcus Williams suffered a slight MCL sprain in his knee during the first half of last Saturday's game. Wide receiver Ryan Smith, who sat out the last game with a high-ankle sprain, is expected to play at Youngstown.
"I'm hopeful for Marcus but Ryan is more probable than Marcus," Bohl said. "Marcus is a day-to-day thing. We'll find out more during practices this week."
