Janet Arlinda Hauf, 75, Makoti, died Saturday, April 26, 2014 in a Minot nursing home. Janet was born August 4, 1938 in Minot, the daughter of Leander and Manetta (Quandt) Beyer. She was raised on the family farm north of Makoti and educated at Makoti. She graduated from Makoti High School in 1957. She attended Christies Beauty School in Bismarck and later worked at Gilmore House of Beauty in Minot. On June 4, 1961, Janet was united in marriage to Ronald Hauf. They made their home in Minot, Lansford and Flaxton, before moving to Makoti in 1970. Jan was a stay at home mother. She enjoyed working in her garden where she raised beautiful flowers and vegetables. Every year she looked forward to canning the produce she raised in her garden. She cherished spending time with her family especially her grandchildren and she loved camping with her family. Jan and her sister Alice treasured their times working and relaxing at Rice Lake. She cared for her parents and grandmother and always checked on them every day. She also enjoyed traveling with Ron and took many trips to San Francisco enjoying fresh crab. Jan was a member of St. Pauls Lutheran Church, rural Makoti where she taught Sunday school and was active with the ladies aid.

Janet is survived by: her husband, Ronald of Makoti; sons, Glen (Lori) of Makoti and Todd (Lori) of Dickinson; daughter, Michelle Petz (Patrick) of Makoti; grandchildren, Amanda, Kristen and Darien Hauf; Justin and Sheyenne Plummer and Cheydan and Taryn Hauf; sister, Alice Ehley of Minot and several nieces, nephews and cousins. She was preceded in death by her parents; grandparents and sister, Patricia Vaughan.

Funeral: Wednesday, April 30, 2014 at 11 a.m. in St. Pauls Lutheran Church, rural Makoti.

Visitation: Tuesday (today), April 29 from Noon to 5:00p.m in Langhans Funeral Home, Parshall.

Interment: St. Pauls Lutheran Church Cemetery
