Joyce Reul was born October 17, 1923 at Grand Rapids, Minn., the 3rd of five children to Fred and Johanna (Urban) Reul. She was raised south of Fryburg, where she attended Porter Country School and Fryburg High School.

Joyce married Frank Polanchek on September 29, 1942 at St. Bernards Catholic Church. They lived and raised their five children on the Polanchek homestead north of Belfield, prior to moving into Belfield.

She was a waitress for over 42 years, having worked at Franks Caf, Exit 10, and Trappers Kettle. She had impressed many people with her good work ethic and friendly smile. Joyce loved to crochet and knit, having made many beautiful things that she would give to family members. She would spend many hours working in the garden, canning, making chokecherry jelly, baked items and candy (especially at Christmas time). She truly loved to fish, her and Frank would go fishing most every weekend. In later years she would take the van and go fishing. David and his family would take her on many fishing trips. Joyce had also gone to California and went shark fishing, having caught a large Mako shark. This was brought home and barbequed and shared with over 100 people. Her son Tony and family took her on many camping trips in the mountains of Wyoming. Her granddaughter Karen, (who also was her care giver for the past several years), along with great-granddaughter, Abbi, had also taken her on many trips.

Joyce is survived by her children, Eva (Monte) Brimmer, Belfield, Anthony (Richie) Polanchek, Gillette, Wyo., David (Marjorie) Polanchek, Belfield, and Rodney Polanchek, Minn.; son-in-law, Stanley Buzalsky, Fargo; 16 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.
