JAMESTOWN — Rob Keller was named the new publisher of The Jamestown Sun on Thursday.

In addition to his new role as publisher, Keller will also continue to serve as advertising director at The Sun, said Lloyd G. Case, president and CEO of Forum Communications Co., which owns The Jamestown Sun.

“I’m feeling excited about the opportunities and challenges that we have,” Keller said. “It’s a privilege and honor to serve this newspaper.”

He replaces Bruce Henke, who retired from The Sun in September after working as publisher since 1992.

Keller, who has worked in advertising at The Jamestown Sun for 23 years, describes the newspaper as “a reflection of the community.”

“It’s not our newspaper, but it’s the community’s newspaper,” he said.

The entire Sun staff works hard to keep the newspaper local, Keller said, and he plans to continue that trend as publisher.

Keller has been advertising director at The Sun for two years.

“Rob has excelled as an advertising salesperson, as well as director of advertising for The Jamestown Sun publications,” Case said. “We are confident he will also be a great publisher for our newspaper in Jamestown and the community.”

As a Jamestown native, Keller’s first job was delivering advertising tearsheets for The Sun in high school, he said.

He has lived in Jamestown for most of his life, leaving briefly to get a degree in business management from Valley City State University.

Keller and his wife, Beth, have two children: a daughter, Regan, in second grade at St. John’s Academy, and a son, Lucas, who is a freshman at the University of Jamestown.

Keller said he has great respect for the history of The Jamestown Sun, which has been publishing since the 1800s.

He added that with the addition of digital media, “I think our readership has never been stronger.

“Our goal is to grow and excel in local news content and customer service,” Keller said.
