Nov. 3, 1954 April 15, 2014
MOHALL Kevin Martin Thom, 59, Dickinson, formerly of Mohall, died Tuesday, April 15, 2014, at a Bismarck hospital.
He was born to Marvin and Harriet (Wood) Thom on Nov. 3, 1954, at St. Andrews Hospital in Bottineau. In 1954, Harriet entered the hospital planning on having one baby, at that time there were no ultrasound tests. Kevin was polite and waited for his two sisters to be born first: Karen #1, Kathy #2 and then Kevin. Surprise! They were the first triplets born in the Bottineau hospital that survived. Kevin attended school in Kramer until the family moved to Mohall where he enrolled in the third grade. While attending Mohall High School, he played football, was student manager for the basketball team, and played tuba in the Yellowjacket band. Kevin was also a soloist in the high school choir. He graduated from Mohall High School in 1972 then attended Minot State College.
Kevin married Lyndi Abrahamson on Aug. 4, 1978, in Mohall. They made their home in Mohall where he started his oil field career with National Supply. He then worked in Westhope for Westhope Oilfield Supply. He was hired by Champion Technologies and worked for 21 years in the Mohall area before transferring to Dickinson where he continued with Champion. He retired Dec. 30, 2013, after working for Champion for 29 years, a company he was very proud of. Kevin enjoyed playing golf, shooting pool, watching all sports, and riding his motorcycle with Lyndi.
Kevin was diagnosed with Cystic Fibrosis at the age of two. He never let his health slow him down and lived a full and active life.
