Kristopher Barnes, 32, Minot, died Thursday, March 20, 2014 from injuries sustained in a work related incident near Killdeer, ND

Kristopher "Kris" Monte Barnes was born on December 5, 1981, a son of Monte and Karen (Zabolotny) Barnes in Minot, ND. He attended grade school at Perkett Elementary School and graduated from Minot High School in 2000. He furthered his education by attending college in Alexandria, MN and later Minot State University.

In 2004, while working at Applebees, Kristopher met Terri Melin. They were united in marriage on June 29, 2007. They made their home in Minot, where Kristopher began working for Ensign Energy Services in August of 2008. He worked his way from floor hand, to driller, the position he has held for the past year.

Kristopher enjoyed motorcycles, especially motocross racing. He competed for the first time at the age of seven, when he became state champion. Every year, they would travel to Millville, MN, for the Spring Creek PRO/AM National MX event. He also enjoyed downhill snow skiing, cross country skiing, fishing and watching UND and NY Rangers hockey.

His greatest times were the ones spend with his family and their dog "Frisky." He loved his wife very much and every moment spent with his three children and her was cherished. He especially loved taking Keegan on skiing trips, tinkering in the garage with "sky-guy" and snuggling with "Brookie-Bear" Kris was a true family man and would do anything for his friends and family.

Kristopher is survived by:Wife Terri, Minot; children: Keegan, 10, Skyler, 3, and Brooke, 19 months, all of Minot; parents Monte Barnes, Minot, Karen Barnes, Minot; brother Michael Barnes, Killdeer, ND, maternal grandmother Bernel Zabolotny, Killdeer, mother-in-law: Karen Melin, Kenmare, ND; brothers and sisters in law: Gerard (Cindy) Melin, Minot, Paula Melin and Cory Wentz, Bismarck and several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and close friends.

Kristopher was preceded in death by his maternal grandfather Anton Zabolotny, and his paternal grandparents Engus and Lillian Barnes, and a cousin Jeff Schaller.

Visitation: Monday, March 24, 2014 from noon until 6 pm at Thompson Larson Funeral Home, Minot

Funeral Service: Tuesday, March 25, 2014, 11 am at First Lutheran Church, Minot

Burial: Rosehill Memorial Park, Minot
