Leader of supremacist group plans visit to Leith
LEITH -- A man claiming to lead a white supremacist group plans to visit Leith to support a resident's plan to create a pro-white enclave in the tiny community.
Jeff Schoep told the Bismarck Tribune that he is a leader of the National Socialist Movement and will be in Leith on Sept. 22-23.
He wants to meet with town residents and Craig Cobb, who moved to the town with plans to buy property and recruit other white supremacists to live in the area.
Schoep, who lives in Detroit, recently wrote to Leith Mayor Ryan Schock that Cobb has not broken any laws and has a right to stay in town, the Tribune reported.
Leith, in Grant County in south-central North Dakota, has a population of about 20. It became the center of national media attention last month when Cobb's plans were publicized by the Tribune and the Southern Poverty Law Center, a nonprofit civil rights organization.
