Letter: Lisbon veteran’s home an example of positivity among VA criticisms
Kudos to the North Dakota Veteran’s Home in Lisbon!
I can vouch for the good food, since I visit there occasionally not only for meetings, but also to visit my brother-in-law who has lived there for a year.
The Veteran’s Home is a nearly new facility, opened in May 2011. It is located on 90 acres of wooded land near the Sheyenne River, with beautiful grounds. It has 142 private rooms and four semi-private rooms, which accommodate married couples, and each room has a private bath. There are skilled-care and basic-care rooms. The services and recreational opportunities are first-rate, and staff members are genuinely involved with the residents.
With all of the criticisms we have heard recently about VA facilities, everyone needs to know what an outstanding place the Veteran’s Home is and how absolutely terrific the staff and the community of Lisbon are to the veterans who call this fine place home.
They truly do carry out their mission of “Caring for America’s Heroes.” Stop by and visit, when you are near Lisbon, or check their website at www.nd.gov/ndvh for photos and additional information. All North Dakotans should be proud of our veteran’s home!
