Letter: Prosperity-at-any-price attitude hurting state
The Casselton train derailment is a wake-up call for people who live in communities with railroads that transport Bakken oil through each day.
The derailment could have been much, much worse. It could have happened in downtown Casselton, or in Jamestown, or in Bismarck, or in Mandan, or in Fargo. The Casselton accident reminded us that the oil boom impacts all of us.
It also reminded us that the prosperity-at-any price attitude of our state leaders is negating the boom’s positive impacts. That attitude is hurting our state and someday it could cost lives.
