Man injured when train strikes truck near Hebron

A Hebron man was injured and his vehicle sustained severe damage Tuesday afternoon when he failed to yield to a train 2 miles east of Hebron near Old Highway 10.

The North Dakota Highway Patrol reported that Russell Heinle, 59, was traveling south on Morton County Road 89 when he crossed the path of a BNSF train going east from Dickinson to Glen Ullin.

The train struck Heinle's vehicle on the rear right side, causing it to run off the highway and overturn.

The train stopped 1/4-mile east of the collision site. The train had minor damage to the right front side, according to the report.

Heinle was transported to Medcenter One in Bismarck by the Hebron Ambulance Service, where he was treated and released.
