The Dickinson High School Drama Department will present a student-directed one-act play about a robbery attempt at a small store.

Senior drama student Cassidy Rhoades has completed the pre-requisites and earned the opportunity to direct a one-act play, according to a press release.

"I had to help with previous plays with the sets and assist-direct a play," Rhoades said. "I never really fully enjoyed the stage, and thought it would be really cool to take a different perspective and do everything myself."

Rhoades chose "After Hours" by Kevin Stone.

"After Hours" concerns a small store, where the mannequins foil a robbery attempt. In the process, the mannequins show the burglars who the real "dummies" are.

Rhoads has learned directing a play is more difficult than previously thought.

"I learned how hard it is to get everybody together at one time," she said. "Also I learned how much work actually goes into it."

Rhoads, who is considering a career in forensic science, described theater as her creative outlet.

The students in the performance are Chris Prchal, Tanielle Brost, Emily Sunyn, Brooke Benz, Shayna Monson, David Fehr, Mac Russ, Anna Tescher, Eden Jackson, Kari Perusquia, Madison Hartl, Helena Montoya, Olivia Hrouda, and Sarah Ramsey.

The performance is 7 p.m. Monday in the DHS Auditorium. A $1 admission will be charged.
