Marvin Walter Gregory was born April 24, 1939 in Dickinson, the son of Matt and Katie (Simnioniw) Gregory. He was raised on the family farm near Gorham, and educated in the Gorham and Fairfield areas, graduating from Belfield High School. He went on to serve his country honorably in the United States Army.

Marvin was united in marriage to Elizabeth "Betty" Kanski on January 30, 1965 at St. Demetrius Ukrainian Catholic Church, Fairfield. They lived in the Belfield and South Heart areas throughout the years, where he worked as a mechanic and drove fuel truck for Cenex, and also drove school bus in South Heart. Ranching was always his true love and he continued to ranch until his death.

He enjoyed playing the guitar and had been a member of several different bands. His love for his family and especially his grandchildren were second to none. He especially enjoyed the grandchildren and giving them tractor rides. He had broke many horses over the years, enjoyed the companionship of his Blue Heeler dogs, and his adopted kids were his cattle. He had a fondness for his Simnioniw grandparents, and looked forward to stopping at the Four Corners for lunch and socializing. Riding horse and team penning competitions were activities that he looked forward to.

Marvin was a member of the American Legion in Belfield, and the South Heart Saddle Club.

Marvin is survived by his wife, Betty; their four children, Tammie (Dean) Jablonsky, Dickinson, Tina (Jerry) Brydl, Dickinson, Terry (Joy) Gregory, South Heart, and Toni (Matt) Dvorak, Dickinson; seven grandchildren, Aaron & Rebecca Brydl, Trystan & Ty Gregory, and Gavin, Payton & Anna Dvorak; sister, Bernie (Maurice) Obrigewitch, Belfield; brother, Steve (Myra) Gregory, Belfield; sister-in-law, Linda Gregory, West Fargo; and numerous nieces and nephews.
