Medical marijuana symposium planned in Helena
HELENA, Mont. (AP) -- Medical marijuana growers from around the state are scheduled to gather in Helena Sunday and Monday for the first symposium put on by the Montana Medical Growers Association.
Executive director Jim Gingery tells the Independent Record that the symposium will include panel discussions on the science surrounding cannabis, legal considerations, alternative ways to medicate with marijuana along with how to operate a small business. A Florida man who is one of a handful of people provided medical marijuana by the federal government is scheduled to speak Sunday evening.
Gingery says one of the purposes for the association is education for patients, caregivers and the public. He says the group agrees that better control over medical marijuana is needed and they're working with legislators to fine tune Montana's law.
