Medora to hold housing meeting
Dickinson North Dakota 1815 1st Street West 58602

The Medora City Council will be hosting a special meeting on Tuesday, March 31 to discuss the possibility of constructing housing.

A total of seven single-dwelling units are being considered, but only two of those would be considered for possible construction this year, said Medora Mayor Doug Ellison.

"Two is kind of our limit for the year," Ellison said.

The location for the proposed housing is immediately south of the railroad tracks, near the AmericInn hotel, he added.

Ellison said a housing committee, comprised of four members, was formed in February to look into possibilities for housing, costs and construction companies.

"It won't happen all at once," Ellison said. "It's all still kind of up in the air, but we're looking into it."

Ellison said the special meeting will also allow for the housing committee to present information regarding construction bids for water, sewer and other items needed on the lot where the housing would be built.

The housing would be used for city employees, he added.

The costs of the housing, construction and layouts of the buildings are a few of the items to be discussed at the meeting, Ellison said.

Leona Odermann, one of the housing committee members, said there has become a need for some additional housing in the city.

"It has been talked about at some of the city council meetings, but we need to move forward with this, that's why the committee was formed," Odermann said.

Odermann said the public is welcome to attend the meeting.

"We're open to all kinds of suggestions about this," Odermann said. "Everything that we beat around at this meeting will be brought up at the regular meeting."

The special meeting of the council is set for 6 p.m. March 31 in the Roosevelt Room of the Medora Community Center.
