Midgets collect statewide win over Devils Lake

DEVILS LAKE — After being shut out in the previous three games, the Dickinson High girls hockey team went on a scoring spree.

The Midgets scored three goals in all three period en route to a 9-1 win over Devils Lake in a statewide game on Saturday.

Through 14 games, the Midgets are 4-10 with a 2-10 statewide record. Both of Dickinson’s statewide wins came against the Firebirds.

Dickinson junior forward Rachel Lantz had three goals and two assists, while sophomore forward Kira Zastoupil had two goals and two assists. Hallie Hoffer added two assists and one goal.

Devils Lake’s lone goal came from Niki Martin at the 6-minute, 4-second mark of the second period.

The Midgets’ junior goalie Kelsey Gillen finished with 23 saves. Devils Lake’s Brianna Holtz stopped 57 shots.

Dickinson continues its season by traveling to Williston for a statewide game at 6 p.m. Friday.
