Midgets downs Majettes in 4 sets
MINOT — After a quality outing earlier this week, the Dickinson High volleyball team came away with its second straight West Region win.
The Midgets used Keely Hutchens 11 kills, 23 digs and two aces to defeat Minot in four sets 25-22, 25-17, 19-25, 25-21 on Saturday.
“It was a nice day again,” Dickinson head coach Jay Schobinger said. “Our kids played hard. They played with energy. We had to make a few adjustments and we have a lot of kids step up and do a lot of nice things. I was very pleased on the day.”
Sierra Rohr, a Dickinson senior middle hitter, wreaked havoc at the net with six kills and six blocks. She also supplied 16 digs. Madison Schobinger dished out 23 assists, while Sarah Dobitz stepped up with 18 digs and two aces.
The Midgets close out their regular season with a home match against Bismarck High at 7 p.m. Tuesday. With the win on Saturday, Dickinson has pretty much locked up the No. 5 seed in the West Region Tournament. The opponent the Midgets could probably open the West Region Tournament against is the Demons.
“Right now, it’s going to be interesting as far as Tuesday goes,” Jay Schobinger said. “I believe we’ve solidified the No. 5 seed. If I’m not mistaken, Bismarck will be the No. 4 seed. Tuesday night could possibly be a precursor for the West Region first round.”
