Midgets outlast Devils Lake, improve to 5-5

DEVILS LAKE — The Dickinson High boys hockey team can go into break comfortably sitting at .500.

The Midgets beat Devils Lake in a nonconference game 4-3 on Saturday.

Dickinson, which has won its second consecutive game, improved to a 5-5 overall record.

With the game tied at two heading into the third period, Devils Lake forward Logan Kraft scored a goal in the first 16 seconds. Kraft had one goal and an assist on the night.

But the Midgets had plenty of time to catch up and tied the game again at 3-3 on Michael McChesney’s first goal of the game. Two minutes later Alex Turcotte netted the game-winning goal.

Four different Dickinson players scored goals in Saturday’s game. Matt Pavek opened the game with a goal, followed by Kass Dvorak with 5:19 left in the period. McChesney and Turcotte scored both of theirs in the third period.

Dickinson goalie Brett Schweizter was credited with the win after making 38 saves. Devils Lake goalie Wyatt Ness stopped 42.

The Midgets come back after winter break to host Jamestown in a West Region game at 1 p.m. on Jan. 4.
