Rachel Jahner, Lexi Yates and Rachel Silkey each finished with two hits as the Midgets defeated Fargo Davies 3-2 during the third place game on Saturday.

“The girls came out after an emotionally and physically exhausting game last year,” Dickinson head coach Bill Butterfield said the team’s loss to West Fargo during the semifinals. “They came out good today and finished strong.”

After the Eagles tied up the game 2-2 in the top of the fourth inning, the Midgets waited one frame to score the game-winning run.

Silkey scored the game-winning run after Yates single to left field. Silkey and Yates both finished 2 for 3, while Jahner was 2 for 4 with a pair of doubles and scored a run. Mackee Hoffmann finished 1 for 3 with a RBI and Avery Privratsky ended 1 for 3 with a run scored. Madison Jahner and Riana Cooper each posted a hit.

Haley Butterfield picked up the win for the Midgets (28-6) after she went six innings, allowed two unearned runs on four hits and struck out one. Madison Jahner pitched the final scoreless inning.

The Eagles’ Carly Kottsick went 2 for 3 with a double and a RBI. Mercedes Swanson and Morgan Smith each had a hit. Carla Binde was tagged with the loss. The sophomore pitcher threw six innings, allowed three runs (one earned) on 10 hits and struck out one.

Dickinson’s third-place win marks the final game for 11 seniors.

“We had 11 seniors and nine of them playing for a majority of the season,” Bill Butterfield said. “They are definitely going to be missed. It’s a big hole of experience, but we have young kids coming back that have the ability to come in and fill that hole.”
