Montana motorcycle driver killed after striking semi truck trailer
A 43-year-old Sidney, Mont., man driving a motorcycle was killed Tuesday afternoon near the Montana-North Dakota state line after he struck the trailer of a semi truck that was trying to make a left turn on Highway 58.
The North Dakota Highway Patrol reported that a man on the 2003 Suzuki sport bike was driving northbound about 5 miles north of Fairview, Mont., on the highway when he encountered a backed-up line of traffic created because the 1998 Freightliner truck pulling a propane tanker was attempting to turn left.
The motorcycle driver, who had been waiting in the line of traffic, pulled out and was passing the traffic ahead of him when the 51-year-old male truck driver from Fairview, began making his left turn.
The motorcycle struck the truck in the rear, driver's side corner of the propane tanker and was killed due to the impact.
