ND Officials warn of bogus company
Attorney General Wayne Stenehjem says scam artists are using North Dakota's reputation for honesty to con people across the country.
Stenehjem says the phony company is using the business name "Premier Financial Lenders." He says complaints have come in across the country claiming that a North Dakota company is involved in the scam.
Stenehjem says the company is fake and it uses a bogus customer service telephone number with a North Dakota area code.
Stenehjem says scammers tell people they can get guaranteed loans if they wire a loan fee to Canada.
Parrell Grossman, director of the attorney general's Consumer Protection Division, says a legitimate lender will not require a consumer to wire money to receive a loan.
