NDGOP director says Hendrickson not eligible for U.S. House endorsement
BISMARCK – DuWayne Hendrickson, a Minot Republican who announced his intention last month to seek the party’s endorsement for U.S. House of Representatives, will not be eligible for the endorsement at this weekend’s state convention in Minot, a party official said Wednesday.
Executive Director Jason Flohrs said Hendrickson did not submit the required signatures of support from six delegates, each from a different district, by the deadline of 4 p.m. Tuesday.
“I have not heard from Mr. Hendrickson, and as of right now he is not eligible to be considered for endorsement,” Flohrs said via email.
The party requires the signatures “just to show that there is broad support for the candidate,” he said.
Hendrickson announced his bid for the endorsement in a March 4 email, setting up a potential contest with U.S. Rep. Kevin Cramer, R-N.D.
Hendrickson ran unsuccessfully as a write-in candidate in the 2010 and 2012 House races and also ran as an independent in the 2008 gubernatorial election.
