New Town man killed after hitting semi parked on roadside
NEW TOWN -- A New Town man was killed after the pickup he was driving collided with semi truck parked on a Highway 22 roadside about 13 miles west of the city.
Frederick Hale, 53, was traveling north in a Ford F-250 truck at about 4:20 p.m. on Thursday, April 24, when the vehicle collided with 1998 International semi truck that was parked about 3 feet off the roadway.
Hale’s vehicle struck the left rear of the semi’s trailer. It spun and then struck a parked Ford F-450 truck. Occupants of both vehicles were outside of them repairing the semi. Hazard triangles were displayed.
Hale was not wearing a seatbelt and was completely ejected from the vehicle. Alcohol is believed to be a factor in the crash, the North Dakota Highway Patrol reported.
