No. 3-ranked Century flies past Dickinson

BISMARCK — The North Dakota Class A two-time defending state champions Bismarck Century girls basketball team weren’t bothered dropping from the top spot to No. 3.

The Patriots went right back to work.

Century used an all-around performance from Jordyn Jossart with 18 points and five steals en route to a 64-37 West Region win over Dickinson on Thursday.

Macy Lynch added 11 points, three rebounds and three assists for the Patriots (11-1, 8-1 West). Kourtney Selensky and Jenna Fitterer each had six points.

For the Midgets (2-9, 0-8 West), Meryl Kovacs posted a team-high 12 points and three assists. Riana Cooper came off the bench and scored seven points and five rebounds.

As a team, Dickinson was 12 of 35 (34 percent) from the field, while Century was 22 of 61 (36 percent).

The Midgets continue their season hosting Bismarck St. Mary’s for a West Region game at 5:45 p.m. today.
