The fourth-ranked Blue Hawks won nine of the 10 matches, two by major decision and two by sudden victory in overtime.

"They were really battling," DSU coach Thadd O'Donnell said. "We were able to finish off all those matches."

Senior Brett Owen, the second-ranked 184-pounder in NAIA, earned an 11-2 major decision over Chad Gibson.

Eli Zuniga, the sixth-ranked 133 pounder, earned a 9-1 major decision against Joe Hirt at 141.

DSU opened and closed the win with overtime victories. Isaac Romero earned a 7-5 win over Corbin Surat at 125 and Cody Jamtgaard beat Jared Little 5-3 at heavyweight.

"I think we wrestled with a lot of confidence and I think our conditioning was really good," O'Donnell said.

The Blue Hawks now enter the NAIA National Duals at Cedar Falls, Iowa, on Saturday. They open the two-day, four-dual tournament against 19th-ranked King (Tenn.) College.

O'Donnell said Thursday's victory was a nice segway into National Duals because they proved they were prepared for the tournament.

"Our guys continued to wrestle," O'Donnell said. "We kind of had a good day."
