The North Dakota Veterinary Medical Association honors the human-animal bond annually by recognizing special animals that have made a difference in someone’s life.

Owners and caretakers whose pet have shown exceptional affection, bravery and/or empathy are encouraged to submit nominations for this year’s 16th annual NDVMA Animal Hall of Fame awards.

Nominations are being sought in the following categories: hero, an animal that has saved or preserved a human life; companion, an animal that has provided extraordinary benefits to its human companion or community; professional, an animal professionally trained to assist humans, such as police dogs, military dogs, search and rescue or guide dogs for the blind; and therapy, an animal beneficial to hospice, nursing homes, prisons or other facilities.
