Junior skills competition being held Friday

Dickinson Parks and Recreation's Junior Olympic Skills Competition is being held Friday at the West River Community Center from 6 to 8 p.m.

The competition consists of basket-ball, soccer, tennis and track and field events for boys and girls ages 8-13 (as of Aug. 1, 2009).

Registration takes place at the event with competition beginning immedi-ately following each participant's registration.

Youth soccer program to begin

Dickinson Parks and Recreation's youth soccer program is beginning Monday, April 20 for children in kindergarten and first grade. It begins Tuesday, April 21 for grades 2-6.

Prairie Rose Basketball Shootout date scheduled

Dickinson Parks and Recreation is having the 2009 Prairie Rose Basketball Shootout on Sunday, April 19 for grades 5-10.

Participants may register anytime between noon and 2 p.m. at the West River Community Center the day of the event.

The top scoring participant in each division advances to the finals at the Prairie Rose State Games on July 11 and 12 in Grand Forks.

Summer softball packets still available

Dickinson Parks and recreation still has packets available for the 2009 adult softball season. Packets can be picked up at the DPR office in the West River Community Center.

Team registration deadline is Wednesday, April 15 with a rules clinic scheduled for Tuesday, April 28.
