Pauline J. Lokken

Feb. 23, 1930 - Aug. 16, 2014

Pauline (Polly) J. Lokken, 84, of College Station, formerly of Waco, passed away peacefully August 16, 2014 at her home surrounded by her family. A celebration of her life will take place with a Rosary and Memorial Mass at 11:00 A.M., Saturday, August 23, 2014 at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Bryan, with the Reverend Monsignor John McCaffrey as celebrant.

Mrs. Lokken was born February 23, 1930 in Mott, North Dakota, the daughter of Michael and Eva (Hubert) Bittenbinder. She was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Bryan and a former member of St. Louis Catholic Church in Waco, where she was an active member of the bereavement committee before her move to College Station.

Polly was secretary and bookkeeper for St. Joseph Catholic Church in Bellmead, for St. Louis Catholic Church and School in Waco, and for Tolson Oil Company in Waco for many years. Polly wore quite a few hats through her 84 years, but she would say that her most important career was that of wife, mother, grandma and great-grandma. Her extended family warmly remembers her as the "energizer bunny" of the family.

Mrs. Lokken was preceded in death by her parents, a brother, Joe Bittenbinder, two sisters, Rose Goetz and Susie Huschka, two half-brothers, Pete Schemberger and Phil Schemberger, a sister-in-law, Joan Bittenbinder, and two brothers-in-law, Joe Goetz and George Huschka.

Survivors include her husband of 61 years, Willis Lokken; four children, Sonja Hobson & her husband Gary, Mike Lokken & his wife Kelli, Terry Moses & her husband Steve, and Patty Veazey & her husband Barry; nine grandchildren, Daniel Hobson & his wife Josie, Brian Hobson, Alex Lokken, Grant Lokken, Nicholas Moses, Matthew Moses & his wife Courtney, Molly Bohac & her husband Colby, Kimi Veazey, and Drew Veazey; four great-grandchildren, Michael, John, Angela, and Eva Hobson; two brothers, Carl Bittenbinder and his wife Violet and Frank Bittenbinder; two sisters-in-law, Mary Bittenbinder and Elvira Lokken; and numerous nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Joseph Catholic Church of Bryan or Hospice Brazos Valley.
