Peregrine falcon chicks banded in Grand Forks
GRAND FORKS, N.D. (AP) -- Officials have put tracking bands on the offspring of one of only two known pairs of peregrine falcons in North Dakota.
Raptor researchers banded the three chicks in Grand Forks on Wednesday, about three weeks after the birds hatched in a nest atop the University of North Dakota water tower. The falcons' migratory patterns will be tracked the rest of their lives.
The only other known pair of peregrines in the state nest atop a bank building in downtown Fargo.
