Police say man found outside south Fargo building likely froze to death

FARGO – Police here are working to identify a man who was found dead here outside this afternoon.

Lt. Joel Vettel said police received a report at about 1:30 p.m. of a dead body outside of a commercial building at 1902 19th Ave. S. in Fargo.

Officers found no signs of trauma on the man and do not suspect foul play, Vettel said. Police haven’t yet identified him, he said.

The lieutenant said po-lice believe the man had been dead to several hours or more and most likely froze to death.

Though temperatures are milder today, approaching 20 degrees, the region has been in a bitter cold snap for much of the past week, with daily highs well below zero many days.
