Power plant northwest of Williston goes operational
The first in a set of three new power plants 15 miles northwest of Williston went operational last week.
Basin Electric Power Cooperative's 45-megawatt, $64.5 million power plant is an answer to the increasing electricity demand from oil development, according to a press release.
This station and the other two at the site are part of a plan including three units west of Watford City and a transmission line.
"All of these components are necessary" to meet the growing oil demand for energy, Basin CEO Andrew Serri said.
