Press announces hires of 2 new managers
The Dickinson Press recently hired two new managers whom Press Publisher Harvey Brock believes will benefit the newspaper's customers and advertisers.
Bob Carruth, who has worked in newspapers for three decades, joined The Press as its advertising director in May. Justin Niles started Monday as The Press' circulation director.
Carruth most recently was the associate publisher and general manager of the East Oregonian in Pendleton, Ore., and the Hermiston (Ore.) Herald. He has worked for several media companies in his career, including Lee Enterprises, Gannett, Pioneer News Group, Hagadone Corp. and EO Media Group.
"I'm really excited to have Bob join the newspaper," Brock said. "I've known Bob for over 20 years. He brings a wealth of experience to the newspaper. He'll be a great asset to our customers to help improve their marketing plans and businesses."
Carruth said he hopes to provide a clear picture of how to help The Press' customers succeed with their advertising.
"What we're trying to do is we're trying to educate people on how advertising works best," he said.
Carruth is emphasizing training for The Press' advertising staff and hopes to add additional staff in preparation for growth in southwest North Dakota.
Niles joins The Press after six years at the Scottsbluff (Neb.) Star-Herald, where he was most recently the district sales manager in charge of the circulation department, as well as the newspaper's carriers, promotions and single copy sales.
Niles said he hopes to bring "a lot of customer service and a lot of different promotional ideas to really reward the subscribers for being subscribers."
Brock hopes Niles can help The Press reach its goal of growing the newspaper's circulation as the southwest North Dakota community grows.
"I'm happy to have Justin join our management team as a circulation director," Brock said. "He'll help us to provide excellent customer service and delivery of the newspapers, and keep up with the growth of our community."
Carruth and his wife, Gloria, have three grown children, including one who lives in Dickinson. Niles and his wife, Jennifer, have a 2-year-old daughter, Savannah, and a 6-month-old son, Logan.
"I'm happy to have both Bob, Justin and their families join our Press family," Brock said. "They'll both be an asset to The Press and our community."
