Rapper from North Dakota gets first No. 1 album
LOS ANGELES — Rapper Wiz Khalifa notched his first No. 1 album last week, leading four new titles onto the U.S. chart.
The North Dakota-born performer (born Cameron Jibril Thomaz) swooped in at the top with his fifth studio album “Blacc Hollywood” (Atlantic), which sold 90,000, according to Nielsen SoundScan data for the week ending Aug. 24. Khalifa previously logged two No. 2 albums: “Rolling Papers” in 2011 and “O.N.I.F.C.” (2012). His breakthrough 2010 single “Black and Yellow” was a homage to the Pittsburgh Steelers, his adopted hometown’s pro football team.
