GLENDIVE, Mont. — The Dickinson High boys basketball team suffered its second loss in two games to open the season.

After keeping it within a two-point game during the first half, Dawson County (Mont.) pulled away in the final two quarters.


The Red Devils used the second half to defeat the Midgets 64-41 during a nonconference game on Friday.

Luke Herauf led Dickinson (0-2) with 17 points including draining three 3-pointers. Parker Egli added eight points, while Dylan Skabo supplied seven.

Bryden Boehning led the way for the Red Devils with 20 points. Jarod Asche came off the bench to score 14 and Gavin McPherson added 12.

The Midgets continue their season traveling to Minot at 5:15 p.m. today.

Midgets scores 7 times to dominate Oilers

WATFORD CITY — The Dickinson High boys hockey team stepped on the pedal less than two minutes into the game and never let up.

The Midgets tallied at least two goals in every period en route to a 7-1 win over Watford City on Thursday.

Alex Turcotte tallied his ninth goal of the season to open up the scoring. Tim Knudson added the team’s second goal four minutes later.

To open the second period, senior Cole Anderson scored his first goal of the season on a feed from Matt Pavek and Alex Bast. Kass Dvorak and August Kordonowy tacked on goals in the second period.

In the final 17 minutes, Dickinson’s Andrew Heckaman and Gannon Karsky supplied the two goals. Dvorak came in the assist for each goal.

Dickinson senior goalie Brett Schweitzer made 13 saves and was credited with the win.

The Midgets return to the ice by traveling to Devils Lake at 1 p.m. today.
