The woman, whose name was withheld, was driving southbound along the curve in a 2009 Ford Fusion at the same time as a 55-year-old man from Perryton, Texas, in a 2002 Mack semi truck hauling a flatbed trailer was heading northeast around the curve.

As the vehicles approached each other, the driver of the car lost control and slid into the semi's lane. The passenger side of the car slid in front of the semi, whose driver was unable to take evasive actions and avoid a collision.

The semi and car both went into the south ditch of the highway.

Both drivers were wearing their seatbelts and the car's airbag deployed. The semi driver, whose name was also withheld, was not injured.

Windy conditions were causing snow to blow across the highway at the time of the crash and Sgt. Steven Fischer of the NDHP said weather and road conditions were a factor.

The incident remains under investigation by the NDHP and the Bowman County Sheriff's Office. The Slope County Sheriff's Office, the Amidon and Bowman Fire and Rescue Departments and the Bowman Ambulance Service responded to the incident.
