TUCSON, Ariz. -- Tom Cruise may have played a Navy "Top Gun" in the movie, but Bill Hosmer was the real deal for the U.S. Air Force.

The native son of Dunseith was one of the country's top fighter jocks in the 1960s. The man who went by the call sign "Hoz" lived the philosophy of one engine, one pilot and go get the bad guys.
