Road construction on Highway 85 near Bowman set to begin Monday
Road construction is set to begin Monday for a stretch of U.S. Highway 85 from the South Dakota state line to 1 mile north of Bowman, according to a recent release issued by the North Dakota Department of Transportation.
The project, which is expected to be completed sometime in October, is scheduled to consist of asphalt overlay work to repair ruts and cracks in the road, one of the busiest in the state.
Speeds along the stretch of highway will be reduced to 45 mph, according to the release, and a width restriction of 12 feet will be present through the city of Bowman. The width restriction will be 14 feet for the rest of the work zone. Flaggers will be present and a pilot car will be utilized, which may cause minor delays for motorists, according to the NDDOT.
The department is encouraging motorists to drive slow and allow extra distance between their vehicles and the vehicle in front of them during construction.
