Rose was born on the family farm near Watertown, S.D. on June 28, 1926, the daughter of Frederick and Gertrude (Hendricks) Ritz. At age 14, Rose moved away from the family farm to attend high school and work full time at the Watertown Public Opinion newspaper. She lived on her own and supported herself throughout high school. She maintained that staunch work ethic throughout her life.

She also worked at the Mandan Pioneer, the Finder in Mandan and The Dickinson Press until retiring in the late 1990s. She ran an in-home daycare until health problems prevented her from continuing.

She moved to Bismarck where she lived until her death.

Rose married Karl Roberts in January of 1950. The couple had three children.

Rose enjoyed the company of a few close friends, bowling, playing cards and trips to the casino. She also served in the alter guild at her church.

Rose is survived by her twin daughters Robin (Scooter) Pursley, Bismarck, and Deborah Roberts, Bismarck, and son William Roberts, Grafton, and two grandchildren, Glenn Pursley, Fargo, and Emily Pursley, Bismarck.

She was preceded in death by her parents, one brother, Jim Ritz, and two sisters, Gertrude Hillestad and Carol Ritz, all of Watertown, S.D.
