Sander trial rescheduled for July 23
The felony jury trial for for Trinity High School’s former principal has been rescheduled for July 23.
Thomas Sander, who is charged with arson and endangerment, is set to have a pre-trial conference July 1 at the Stark County Courthouse.
The trial was originally set for a week earlier, but was pushed back to allow more time for preparation.
Southwest Judicial District Judge William Herauf will preside.
Sander is charged with arson for allegedly setting fire in March to contents of a file cabinet in Trinity’s main office, and with endangering by fire because he allegedly knew a Trinity teacher was in the building’s second-floor apartment at the time. He has pleaded not guilty.
The fire displaced Trinity junior high and high school students for the remainder of the school year. Both charges are B felonies, each carrying a maximum penalty of 10 years in prison and $20,000.
