Shawn R. Johnson, 24, Hazen, formerly of Sentinel Butte, died on March 21, 2008, as the result of an accident near Center.

Shawn's funeral services are at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, March 26, 2008, at First Lutheran Church, Beach, with the Rev. Paul Peterson officiating.

Interment is in a local cemetery.

Shawn was born on June 11, 1983, in Dickinson, the son of Leroy and Mary (Wyckoff) Johnson. He was raised on the family farm south of Sentinel Butte. Shawn received his education in the Beach school system, graduating from the Beach High School with the class of 2002.

After high school, Shawn attended Wyoming Tech in Laramie, Wyo., graduating in the spring of 2003.

In the fall of 2003, Shawn went to the John Deere school for two years at the North Dakota State School of Science in Wahpeton.

After his schooling, Shawn went to work for the John Deere dealership in Beach.

He moved to Hazen in August 2007, where he worked for the Hazen RDO John Deere dealership until the time of his death.

Shawn was a member of the First Lutheran Church, Beach, the Golva Fire Department, while living in Golva, and later the Hazen Fire Department.

Shawn enjoyed working on demolition derby cars as well as stock car racing. He enjoyed tinkering with motors or anything mechanical.

He also loved fishing and being with his family. His friends meant a lot to him.

Shawn is survived by his parents Leroy and Mary (Wyckoff) Johnson, Sentinel Butte; a sister, Melanie Johnson, Sentinel Butte; paternal grandparents, Holger and Marion Johnson, Sentinel Butte; maternal grandmother, Loretta Wyckoff, Beach; along with numerous aunts; uncles; and cousins.

Shawn was preceded in death by his grandfather, Kenneth Wyckoff; and two cousins, Michael Wyckoff and Robbie Updike.
