Small grains harvest getting under way in ND

Email

FARGO, N.D. (AP) -- The small grains harvest is under way in North Dakota, earlier than normal.

The Agriculture Department's weekly crop and weather report says recent warm weather has accelerated the development of most crops and allowed some to reach maturity. About 4 percent of the oats crop is harvested, along with 2 percent of the barley and 1 percent of the spring wheat. That's ahead of the average pace.
