Stark County offers emergency weather alert system
Stark County is now using the Everbridge system for citizen alerts to communicate with local businesses and citizens.
Everbridge is a communication and mass notification provider that helps organizations save lives, manage critical activities and improve the efficiency of daily operations.
With the Everbridge system, Stark County will be able to alert residents about severe weather situations issued by the National Weather Service through weather notification, according to a press release. Citizens may also be alerted to emergency messages issued by local emergency response agencies to reverse notification. All landline telephones are automatically part of this notification, but citizens may also register their cellphones to receive alerts through the cellphone registration.
Messages can be sent to individuals using a variety of contact mechanisms — landlines, mobile phones and text messaging — ensuring that citizens receive life-saving emergency information announcements in minutes.
Although participation in this program is not required, Stark County Department of Emergency Services urges registration. Citizen alerts gives first responders and emergency management a direct means of communicating with the citizens in this community.
