Thousands of acres burn near Mandaree; another fire ablaze near Grassy Butte this afternoon
Firefighters are on-scene of fires that are burning thousands of acres across western North Dakota this afternoon.
The "Little Swallow Fire" on the Fort Berthold Reservation has burned about 6,000 acres since Wednesday and is about 40 percent contained, according to the Bureau of Indian Affairs.
Firefighters have also been on the scene of a grass fire about 10 miles northwest of Grassy Butte this afternoon, officials said.
They say the fire is big and hard to access but no further details were available as of 4:20 p.m. today.
